  • ❖ Support your theme by giving at least two reasons that make it the most suitable area for exploration in your opinion.

 

  • – Pakistan is one of the countries that is majorly affected by pollution and is contributing towards the rapid change in the global climate. But, because of the lack of awareness and concern regarding the diverse effects that come with our day to day actions, such as waste disposal, such problems still tend to exist on high ranks in our society.

 

  • – However, on the contrary, a minor majority of people seem to be aware of this reality, yet resist to be upfront about it because they believe that their opinion will not bring a change. On the contrary, being IB learners, we want to take the initiative and encourage people to become an active part of our community and engage them in citizenship. Letting the world know that EVERY bit matters!

 

Problem Identification:

  • ❖ In the light of the chosen theme, identify at least TWO problems which are of highest priority in your opinion.

 

Problem Statement:

  • – Inefficient waste disposal leads to deadly environmental pollution in addition to making recycling cumbersome!

 

Description: Inefficient waste disposal  is one of the major reasons that contribute towards climate change aka environmental pollution. Although every individual is a part of it, yet the lack of awareness regarding the diverse effects of inefficient garbage disposal makes it an issue that exists on high ranks in our so called “progressive” society, thus silently contributing towards climate change.

Sought a Solution:

  • ❖ Based on the identified problems, brainstorm a solution: (You may propose a solution to any one of the problems identified by you)
  • PRO-CYCLE

 

Students shall lead a campaign along with action for the same- spreading and stimulating the cause with ambitious action!

  • Divide into four groups which shall be setting PRO-CYCLE booths at different commercial areas throughout the city- different representatives belonging from varying communities shall be taken on board to run a city-wide campaign!
  • The aim will be to engage people and aware them about the PRO-CYCLE campaign that aims towards an efficient and eco-friendly approach to waste disposal.
  • The students shall be distributing colorful flyers/brochures with more detailed information as well as the official hashtag and the social media page such that people can easily become a part of the campaign and share their experience.
  • The participants shall be initially briefed about the same and they shall be encouraged to share pictorial evidence of the usage of PRO cans at home/workplaces/markets/social spots/restaurants (hence providing evidence of it being effectively utilized)
  • Facebook and Twitter pages shall be created to post the evidences
  • In order to give it a highlight at a country level, solution shall be shared with electronic and digital media representatives
  • City govt, shall be taken on board by sending them project proposal of the same.
  • A detailed email shall be sent to WWF in order to be their contributors of “Cutting down the pollution” and “Recycling” cause.
  • The students shall be showcased on electronic and social media platforms projecting the idea amongst people of the chosen community
